Waiting for work

So I didn't really do anything this past week; contacted Mr. Cathcart and we will be having another push for clothes this time. I can't have spent more than a half hour with him, giving feedback on this past one and asking about the new one.

So hours worked: .5

So far I have 130.5 altogether. This coming week should finish things up.

March 28th

I still have not received any further instructions as to what I am to do concerning our goals with the Kickstarter, which has been completed, having raised $20,716.56, which I would say is very successful. I'm going to e-mail Mr. Cathcart and ask what else he'd like me to do. So far, it's been very interesting, and I've gotten mostly positive feedback from those whom I've shown our products.

Overall, I worked around 10 hours this week.

March 20th

So this week between getting over the flu and editing my capstone project, I really didn't get much done, and it was much of the same type of work; spreading the word about the kickstarter. We are at $17, 566 with 54 backers and 6 days to go, so I'd say we are doing pretty well.

I worked for around 9 hour this week. Not very much, but better than last week.

March 13th

Well this week I got even less work done than I thought I would; I came down with the flu and struggled all week. Fortunately we are over our goal now on Kickstarter, so I look forward to seeing what my new assignments will be.

I worked for 7 hours this week.

March 6th

We are still doing our footwear push through Kickstarter, and it is admittedly slow. We have 20 days left with $4500 of our $9000 goal. I didn't work quite as much this week as the others, just around 11 hours, I had a lot going on aside from this. This week however, I'll be working a bit more, continuing to push the Kickstarter and contact more blogs and such.

Hours worked: 11

February 29th

So this has also been a very busy week; our footwear push and Kickstarter have been my main focus. I've done e-mailing, contacting various sites and people, research for SJC, as well as feedback and error checking for the SCJ Kickstarter page before it went live. I worked everyday this week, I advised on things such as the sound editing on the videos, as well as just the spelling and grammar.

I worked about 17.5 hours this week.

February 21st

So we've been pushing the footwear big time; we sold out on our deal for the cheaper prices, and the balmoral boots went over well apparently. My new mission has been to contact different sites about our footwear and engage their interest. I'll write more on it next blog as I'll be more free to talk about it once I'm done.

Overall, I've worked 15 hours this week, it's been hectic, with e-mail creations (creations of multiple e-mails as well, from gmail to yahoo), and just searching for new places to contact. In the mean time I'm gonna continue to put more and more work into this.

Footwear

So this week we've been focusing on our push for footwear; we have balmoral boots (a personal favorite of mine), biker boots, and tarsal strap spectators. The shoes are all made in one of seven factories in England that are left, and are very high quality. I actually would like to save up for all three kinds of balmorals myself, though for now will have to be frugal with my money since I have to live off the little I have til the end of the semester. The balmorals alone are $268 and that's the temporary bargain price, an excellent one for the quality and craftsmanship, but too much for my meager income right now.

I've been instructed to find people on instagram, and compile a list as well as a lot of other things. I'm still in the process, and we are starting this week. I worked all weekend at my regular job too, so everything has been very tight.

I worked about 9 hours this week for SJC.

February 7th

So for this week I've been tasked with working on Reddit, gathering Instagramers with 500K-1M followers, and getting a few apps to see the traffic on sites, as well as a couple other things, such as Iconosquare and the Alexa app, for finding rankings for the blogs I go to.

I've worked a bit more this week than I have been, largely due to trying to learn the apps better, as well as gathering Instagram accounts. We are going to be doing a push for men's footwear soon, and will hopefully see success with this.

In the mean time, I'm going to continue working with these apps and learning them better.

I've put in 12 hours this week for working.

January 31st

So our latest push is going to be for leather jackets, and then for footwear. I did get a reply from one of the places I e-mailed about a collaboration, but it would cost, so we aren't going to do that. Contact with Mr. Cathcart is something I'm still adjusting to, as sometimes I e-mail without reply, and then others we have a steady thread of conversation. I find that most places I e-mail either aren't interested or just don't get back to me at all.

We'll be doing footwear soon, as mentioned earlier, which I am looking forward to; we'll be pushing balmoral boots (which I'd love to have), biker boots, and tarsal strap spectators. The shoes are well made, and we'll be finding an audience for them soon as well.

I've probably worked around 7 hours this week, still not as much as I'd like, but better than before. The snow break was a double-edged sword; it gave me more time to work, but at the same time put my car out of commission with a flat tire, so I had to get that taken care of. Anyway, I'm sure this next week will be much more productive/fruitful.

January 24th

So between the 17th and 24th, I've been focusing on Instagram, to little success at my dismay. I sought to contact people through the site, but direct messaging does not work on my phone, because it's only supported on Apple, and I have an Amazon Fire. I tried their online version, and there isn't even an option, so then I tried their app on the PC, which not only did not have DM, but also is a very poorly designed rendition of their mobile app.

So, I reverted to e-mailing people (a couple of whom do have Instagram, so I didn't have a total loss).

Throughout this experience, I've learned that something that is supposed to be professional, such as Instagram, can actually be poorly designed and not easily accessible via certain platforms (online, the PC app, not having the right phone brand, etc.). I do have an iPhone 4S somewhere around here, so once I find it, I'm going to try for that then.

I worked for around 6 hours this week altogether.

Internship, school, etc.

January 2nd-17th

So since the last time I was on here, I've been contacting various gear sites, blogs, and people I know to either advertise or write on SJC. School has started up since then too, adding an interested dynamic and balance to this process. Admittedly, I haven't done as much work as I would have liked, but will be more intensive from now on. Getting ready for the school year, doing some stuff for my car, and some other things added to the slowing down, but I'm in the full swing of things now.

January 2nd-9th hours worked: 3

January 9th-17th hours worked: 9

Internship thus far

December 4th, 2015
Start of work in internship, first assignment was to learn Reddit. I spent time the ensuing week (s) learning the site, I'd never used it before, and researching marketing strategies. Thus far, we have not utilized this medium, but might still in the future.

December 14, 2015
I received a new objective, advertising for the Christmas sale, which lasted until the 24th. I gathered a list of potential groups to market to; at first they were vintage groups, but I was informed that SJC is a men's fashion company, not just vintage, so I then instead gathered and contacted a list of websites, such as Lindy Shopper, The Art of Manliness, and a few other websites and blogs, about the sale and maybe writing about SJC. I never received any replies.

December 18, 2015
I was told to create an Instagram account, as well as given a list of other types of sites to contact and research. I also was told, and then joined the SJC forum.

January 1, 2016
After Christmas week I got food poisoning or a stomach virus, so I didn't do anything much of that week. Right now we are working on getting ready for a big push on leather jackets and footwear, and advertising for that.

December 4th-14th hours worked- at least 7, maybe 10

December 14th-18th hours worked- around 3.5

December 18th-January 1st hours worked- 4
